A private space for like-minded lunatics
I’ve been poking about Substack. Turns out, I can have a private chat for subscribers like yourself, so I figured … what could possibly go wrong?
Now, if I have done the technical jigger-pokery correctly, this is should be a conversation space exclusively for paid subscribers—kind of like a group chat or live hangout. Also, I sincerely apologize for using the phrase ‘conversation space’ a moment ago. I try avoid ‘corpo-speak’ when I can, though sometimes I do it with self-conscious irony, just in case it’s become mainstream without me knowing. When I do this, I swear I’m not selling out my identity; frankly, I’m just as bewildered as you.
Anyway, what shall we use this conversation space for? To exchange pictures of otters? Awkward facts about dolphins? Pictures of squirrels acting suspiciously? Or (even rarer) pictures of squirrles behaving un-suspiciously?
I am open to guidance; I mean, clearly, I would have to be. But it occurs to me we could create some sort of cult. Or even better, a megachurch.
Oh, everything below is Substack boilerplate, but it may be helpful.
How to get started
- Get the Substack app by clicking this link or the button below. New chat threads won’t be sent sent via email, so turn on push notifications so you don’t miss conversation as it happens. You can also access chat on the web.
- Open the app and tap the Chat icon. It looks like two bubbles in the bottom bar, and you’ll see a row for my chat inside.
- That’s it! Jump into my thread to say hi, and if you have any issues, check out Substack’s FAQ.
